The developer behind a major housing estate coming to a fast-growing area of the Toowoomba region said the project would help meet the incredible demand for new lots.
Hallmark Property was approved this months by the Toowoomba Regional Council for its Wirraglen estate on Kleinton Road at Highfields.
The 148-lot subdivision, which is a short walk from Highfields State Secondary College and sporting fields, will also feature new parkland as part of construction.
The lots will have an average size of about 750 sqm, with some as large as 1178 sqm.
There will also be four lots allocated for drainage, while another parcel will be dedicated for a sewer pump station, paid for by both the developer and the council.
Project manager Tim Colthup said the decision allowed the company to move ahead with securing approval for operational works.
From there, lots could then be sold either off the plan or when they were released to the market.
“We’ve got the development approval, now we lodge operational works and that could take a few months,” Mr Colthup said.
“The operational works are the nitty-gritty of the infrastructure, so that could be three months.
“Overall, the conditions are easy enough to work with and we look forward to working with the council more in the future.”
Mr Colthup said potential buyers would be able to express their interest in securing a lot later in the year.
“Our timeframes are to have it delivered by the end of the year and then have it ready to sell next year,” he said.
“Expressions of interest will occur sometime this year.
“It’s an awesome spot, a short walk to the high school, so it’s a premium location.”
Mr Colthup said the approval came as demand continued to grow for quality new lots across the region.
“Council’s approval to facilitate bringing an estate of this calibre to the market will greatly assist in alleviating pressure on housing supply within the Toowoomba region,” he said.
