A three-storey unit complex could be coming to Toowoomba’s southern suburbs, after plans were lodged for a set of 12 apartments that includes disability accommodation.
Developers Yuk Mui Yuen and Chi Ping Yuen lodged plans with the Toowoomba Regional Council to build a new unit complex on a vacant plot of land on Brendanbri Street in Kearneys Spring.
The new 10.5m project would include four one-bedroom units, six two-bedroom apartments and two three-bedroom units, reaching a total gross floor area of nearly 900 sqm and site cover of 600 sqm on the 1000 sqm block.
The bottom floor will host 20 car parks to reduce the amount of on-street parking.
According to the planning report by Property Projects Australia, a third of the units will be built as specialised disability accommodation.
“In relation to each of the adjoining dwelling houses, there will be no inappropriate impacts to existing development and the proposal is consistent with the scale and setbacks intended for future development of these sites under the planning scheme,” the report said.
Because the application is code-assessable, no community consultation will need to be carried out by the developers.
It comes as the Toowoomba Regional Council tries to ramp up the development of units, especially those which were approved years ago but have yet to start construction.
According to development reports by the council, just 33 units were approved between November and February.
