The Ninth Middle Ridge developers change design to meet demands of buyers

The developer behind The Ninth Middle Ridge, a massive retirement living complex near Toowoomba Golf Club, has changed its design to meet shifting needs.

Aura Holdings director Tim Russell said demand for more luxury living has forced the company to create new 'mega-apartments' inside The Ninth Middle Ridge retirement community.

THE developer behind a major retirement living complex next to the Toowoomba Golf Club has changed its design to meet the demand for luxury living from buyers.

Aura Holdings has revealed it condensed eight standard apartments with The Ninth Middle Ridge development into four “mega-apartments”, each with about 215 sqm of living space.

The apartments are expected to sell at about $1.3m.

Concept are of apartments inside The Ninth Middle Ridge near the Toowoomba Golf Club, which is currently under construction.

The change reduces the number of units in the development to 75, made up of two and three-bedroom apartments plus penthouses.

Company director Tim Russell said the change, which occurred after construction had started at the site by lead contractor McNab, was due to requests from potential buyers.

“These redesigned apartments will take retirement living to the next level and are like nothing else offered on the Darling Downs,’’ Mr Russell said.

“We know that today’s retirees demand a high standard of living.

“We were taken by surprise by the interest in our larger, more expensive apartments after being told by some that Toowoomba retirees wouldn’t pay over a million dollars for an apartment, but they were wrong.

“Despite the doom and gloom surrounding Covid, the property market has continued to grow strongly providing retirees with more capital to fund their desired lifestyle.’’

Work has started on the Ninth Middle Ridge retirement community near the Toowoomba Golf Club.

Mr Russell said he had been impressed by the interest from residents looking to downsize during retirement, with deposits down on about 25 per cent of the available apartments.

“The Ninth is delivering something very special to Toowoomba,’’ he said.

“Our future residents are really excited by the option to downsize somewhere with ease of access via lifts to all the communal facilities.

“Residents will overlook the manicured green space and trees of the golf course rather than the rooftops of dozens of small villas in the traditional style of retirement villages.

“The Ninth will have strong appeal to both golfers and retirees who want to live in such a beautiful, peaceful and secure community of friendly like-minded neighbours.”
