It’s a project that’s been in the pipeline for years and was controversially approved by council in 2018. Now workers are on the ground to start construction.

Work has started on a long-awaited $30m retirement village sitting right next to one of Toowoomba’s major golf courses.
Toowoomba contractor McNab is currently on site at the Ninth Middle Ridge, and will create nearly 80 two, three and four-bedroom apartments for retirees.
The Aura Holdings project will overlook the Toowoomba Golf Club, which allocated part of its land to the development.
Aura Holdings director Tim Russell said the company had hoped to start work last year, but was delayed due to the economic impacts of Covid-19.
“Despite an unavoidable delay to the start of construction, Aura has continued to be firmly committed to this project,” he said.
“I am thrilled that things are now moving on this exciting project for Toowoomba.
“The construction of the village will deliver a boost to the Darling Downs, employing local contractors and Toowoomba’s own McNab.’’
“Our residents will overlook 55 hectares of manicured green space and soaring trees instead of rooftops and the Toowoomba Golf Club will be their backyard.
“The Ninth will have strong appeal to both golfers and retirees who want to live in such a beautiful, peaceful and secure community of friendly like-minded neighbours.”
The project was not without controversy, with neighbours and residents opposing its approval by the council back in 2018.
Construction is expected to be finished by late 2022.
Members of the public are invited to attend an information session at the Toowoomba Golf Club on September 7 at 11am.
