A major pet supplies and animal keeping company has withdrawn an application to build a new doggie daycare facility in Toowoomba.

Pet Stock submitted plans in February to the Toowoomba Regional Council to use an existing commercial premises located at 57 Clifford St to create a pet-stay facility to house up to 53 dogs.

“The facility would include internal works for modular fencing for the four yards, an exercise yard and includes a new opening between the two warehouse spaces,” the application said.

The proposed development would’ve employed six staff members on site and the proposed hours of operation were from 7am to 6pm Monday to Friday, and 8am to noon on Saturdays for dog training.

But the applicant pulled the development proposal this week, after council planners indicated in conversations that it was unlikely to get TRC support.

The reasons appear to be around conditions for acoustic amenity at the site.

Toowoomba is serviced by several doggie daycare centres, including Hounds on Herries in Newtown.

Pet Stock has two supply stores in Toowoomba, located in the CBD and in Harristown.
