Bad weather has delayed the opening of a new Toowoomba CBD development that is being built where the destroyed Amigo’s Mexican restaurant stood.
Construction group Newlands has made significant progress on the new three-storey office block, which will include modern office spaces and an underground car park.
Developer DSP Investments Pty Ltd is behind the new project that would replace one of the city’s worst eyesores, following the massive fire that destroyed Amigo’s in 2017.
Company director Tom Sullivan said he had originally planned for the building to be finished by April, but recent rain had pushed the completion date back.
“Won’t finish until about May, it will be about middle of that month,” he said.
“Everything is going well apart from the rain.
“Once we get the roof on, we’ll be right.
“When you’re playing with the foundations of a new building, you’ve got to be so careful.”
Mr Sullivan, whose own legal firm Davidson and Sullivan will be moving to the new site, said he was speaking with local agents to start marketing the vacant spots inside the building, which promotions to start within weeks.
“We’ve got a couple of agents ready to jointly market it,” he said.
