A national bathroom retailer’s new home in Toowoomba is just a couple of months away from completion on the edge of the CBD.
Highgrove Bathrooms, which has more than 40 locations across Australia, is setting up shop on a vacant block of land on James St in Toowoomba City.
The nearly 2000 sqm building, which will include the Highgroves showroom and two other tenants, is currently under construction.
Hipwood Development and Construction serving as the contractor on the project.
LJ Hooker Commercial’s Markus Eames, who is handling the property leases, said the new store was a boost for the bulky goods retail market.
“They decided to buy the land, build for their own use and they ended up building their own showroom and having area there for two more tenants,” he said.
“We’ve leased 400 sqm to a national retailer, and then a remaining 600 sqm that we’re negotiating with other parties on.
“We haven’t seen a new bulky goods showroom being built in Toowoomba since the Bunnings CBD site.
“We’ve seen the demand for bulky goods satisfy the need for this size of development.”
Mr Eames said the showroom would cater to customers in Toowoomba and across southwest Queensland.
“They get all the data on what’s being developed in Toowoomba and how big our market is,” he said.
“This will be the most westerly Highgrove Bathrooms in Queensland, so they will service the market here and out to western Queensland, including Dalby and Chinchilla.”
The new showroom is expected to be opened as early as April.
