Avenues of Highfields push forward with final lots in major Toowoomba subdivision
The final lots in this subdivision were supposed to be years off, but a surge in demand for new homes has pushed the developer to bring forward the balance of the Toowoomba estate.

The developers behind a major masterplanned community north of Toowoomba has brought forward the rest of its remaining lots for approval, in a bid to keep pace with demand from buyers.
The Avenues of Highfields subdivision this week submitted a proposal to the council for the final 130 lots in the estate, which would complete the project once sealed.
Project manager Stephen Bowers said the move was in response to the growth in demand for new properties in greenfields sites.
“It’s in response to the massive take-up for our project — I’m wanting to be ready to respond as we’ve got momentum now,” he said.
“Now it’s reached a level of maturity, we’re receiving good interest from buyers.
“It should be expeditious (through council) because we’re operating under a master plan approval, and we’ve resolved all the significant external issues.
“So it should be like shelling peas.”
Mr Bowers said it wasn’t just first home buyers taking up properties in the new estate.
“I’m proud of the broad demographic - we’ve got couples with kids, first homebuyers, downsizers, interstate buyers, because we’ve got a variety of lots,” he said.
“People know it’s a quality estate, we’ve got houses there, beautiful landscaping and parks.”
A shortage in rentals and social housing has placed more pressure on the council and developers to produce more lots, in the hopes it would move people into new properties.
