The growth in popularity of the small town of Crows Nest has resulted in Toowoomba Regional Council potentially investigating opportunities for public off-street parking near one of the town’s biggest drawcards.
Since opening in April following months of planning, rebuilding and revitalising,Nolan’s Block in Crows Nest has become a classic-style emporium garnering attention from across the country.
With business booming, TRC Infrastructure Committee portfolio lead Melissa Taylor said council was considering ways it could help see the business flourish.
“We’re in a fortunate situation where one of our regional towns is experiencing a noticeable rise in economic activity,” Ms Taylor said.
“There are a number of businesses which are seeing increased levels of visitation and as a result, more parking may be required.
“This is a town that is flourishing and we need to look at ways we can support the growth, where appropriate.
“Council owns or has rights to land in this vicinity, so our teams will soon begin the first steps of investigating options for more parking.
“An investigation would also look at the planning requirements and potential costs associated with formalising an off-street carpark, should Council wish to progress with such a project.”
At the Council meeting on December 13, council voted in favour of investigating the opportunity for formalising a public off-street carpark, in the vicinity of Nolans Block, Crows Nest and consider the necessary funding for this phase of work at Budget Review 2.
