If there’s one thing you can be sure of when you’re taking a look at Toowoomba’s various buy, swap and sell groups on Facebook, it’s that you’ll never know what you might find.
Just like a virtual garage sale, the Facebook groups are a treasure trove of the unusual and the unexpected for those who want to have a dig around.
In no particular order, here are some of the more interesting things for sale on the social media sites.
Rugby league collector cards: A must-have for die hard fans of rugby league from the golden era of the late 90s and early 2000s, this collection features household names such as Andrew Johns, Steve ‘Beaver’ Menzies, Ryan Girdler and many more! Going for just $1 this collection is a bigger hit than a shoulder charge from Ray Price.
Nintendo 64 console: A gaming blast from the past, this console would bring back plenty of fond memories for the 30-somethings of Toowoomba, and perhaps a few puzzling looks from members of Gen Z (no, it doesn’t connect to the internet!). This item comes with a controller and memory expansion so get among the retro gaming fun for $150.
Car portable CD player: Picture the following scene. You’re about to go on a long road trip, and your car only has a cassette player, but all your favourite tunes are on CDs. Once upon a time that would end the road trip vibes there and then but with these combination of two outdated technologies it’s problem solved.
Pug bag: What’s the best way to let people know you’re a fan of designer bred dogs with breathing problems? By carrying one around and stuffing personal items in a life-size version of one, of course! It’s never been used and could be yours for just $50.
Milo tin: Featuring fan favourites Michael Slater and Mel Jones, this collectable Milo tin from season 2000/01 would complement any serious cricket fan’s pool room collection. Note: Milo not included.
Electric organ: Perfect for church hymns and Deep Purple alike, a Kawai electric organ is going for $150 in Gatton. The volume pedal is no longer working but maybe your neighbours will appreciate that.
Trampoline: I’m not sure if this seller is phasing tumbling out of their act, and I don’t think it will double the value of your home, but this massive trampoline could be yours for $150.
Yosemite Sam mug: If drinking out of the head of one of your favourite cartoon characters is your thing, this Yosemite Sam mug is a must have.
Outdoor heated spa: With winter well and truly setting in, stay warm and relaxed in your very own hot tub. At just $800 it would be a perfect addition to any outdoor area.
ESP LTD electric guitar: Some guitars are built to play soulful, beautiful melodic compositions. And some were built to rattle windows, make ears (and fingers) bleed and generally raise hell. This is the latter. Featuring active humbucker pickups and the trapped souls of your enemies this ESP LTD Ax-50 wouldn’t look out of place at any Slayer or Lamb of God gig.
