A Darling Downs cafe worker was faced with an unexpected customer when they discovered a scared little squirrel glider hiding in a box of biscuits.
Toowoomba Wildlife Advocate Judi Gray posted the story to her Instagram page on Tuesday, after taking the little creature into her care.
“One of the last places you’d expect to find a squirrel glider is in a box of biscuits at a restaurant in the Toowoomba CBD,” she said in her post.
“A hospitality worker got the surprise of his life when he went to the restaurant’s storage area to get biscuit stock for their cafe.
“When he reached into the box, he felt something furry followed by a sharp nip on his hand.”
In her post Ms Gray said the unexpected cafe guest could have gotten into the box while in transit from the Lockyer Valley.
The cute little cafe-goer has been cut off from eating any more biscuits and will be soft released back into a safe area in the wild soon.
