Four Toowoomba artists have lent their disparate styles to create a special exhibition at the Toowoomba Art Society’s main gallery.
Creativity in Colour and Clay, the product of painters Ros Cranch, Betty Searle and Eddie Gunn, along with sculptor Jacqui Rahley, celebrated its official opening on Saturday at the Culliford Gallery on Godsall St.
Dozens of people got a chance to inspect and buy works that featured a wide variety of styles and methods.
Ms Cranch said while joint exhibits were common, it was rare to see four artists teaming up to showcase their works.
“We all paint together and we’re members of the art society,” she said.
“We came here to paint and that’s how we met, but some of us have had connections previously.
“I think it looks great, with each artist on a separate wall, which makes it different from the usual mixture of styles.
“Some of them have sold already, so we’re very pleased with them.
“It’s quite common for two people to do it, but I don’t think we’ve had four before.”
While Ms Cranch’s works depicted various spots around Brisbane, Ms Searles were landscapes inspired by her memories of the Maranoa.
Mr Gunn drew from an eclectic selection of stimuli to create his works, while Ms Rahley based her sculptures on natives birds and other animals.
