The Grammar Art Show was on track to break records after another highly successful event over the weekend in Toowoomba.

Art Show co-ordinator Bec Statton said opening night broke records.

“$250,000 worth of art was sold on opening night and that was just to people in attendance on the night,” she said.

“By the start of today (Sunday) $380,000 worth of art had been sold which was about the total last year.

“Last year, after the extended show, we hit $415,000 and this year we will keep it open until about mid-April but I think we’ll break $400,000 by the end of today.”

Mrs Statton said the Grammar Art Show had artists from every state and territory in Australia and buyers from overseas as well.

“There were over 100 on the website waiting to buy (on opening night),” she said.

“We’ve had inquiries for shipping from England, Germany and America.”

Now in it’s 29th year, the Grammar Art Show was more than just about art, Mrs Statton said.

“We get a lot of people coming into Toowoomba from all over the country which is excellent for the city.

“Lots of people come her to spend the weekend in Toowoomba and see what the city has to offer.”
