A spectacular exhibition of photos of birds native to Toowoomba and further afield is on show at the Darling Downs Environment Council.
Photographers Ann Alcock and Julie Ramsay each contributed 12 photos of native birds to the A Flash of Colour exhibition.
Ms Alcock said both Julie and herself loved photographing birds.
Their exhibition was staged to celebrate the opening of the DDEC offices in Australia Arcade.
“Julie and I have both had previous careers as professional photographers but recently we’ve been able to follow our passion for photographing birds,” Ms Alcock said.
“It’s a great challenge but its also really rewarding to be able to get close to birds and to be able to observe them.”
Ms Alcock said her favourite snap from her selection was of the rufous-crowned emu-wren from out at Winton.
“It’s a tiny little bird that lives in the spinifex and its just the sweetest little bird,” she said.
“I first saw a photography of one many years ago and I hoped that I’d be able to one day be able to photograph.”
