Queensland Fire and Emergency Services crews were tasked to the incident outside Highfields State School about 3.30pm.

A QFES spokeswoman said the child was released by RACQ and crews were not required.

EARLIER: Emergency services are rushing to help free a child locked inside a car at Highfields.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services crews have been tasked to attend the locked car on the New England Highway outside the Highfields State School.

The incident was reported shortly before 3.30pm.

It is the second incident involving a child being locked in a car in the region in as many days.
