Here’s a list of Darling Downs men to avoid who were caught committing a range of creepy crimes such as peeping in showers, showing girls their penises, public masturbation romps, and other gross crimes.

Throughout the past few years, a number of Darling Downs residents have been caught committing creepy and disturbing crimes.
Below is a list of men who were sentenced before Toowoomba courts, high and low, for a range of criminal offences that were gross and concerning in nature.
Some of the perpetrators had criminal histories, and not everyone had a conviction recorded.
Notorious serial masturbator aka ‘Stick man’
Over the past few years’ one Toowoomba man has repeatedly made headlines for his particularly unusual, dangerous, and disturbing public sex acts where he penetrated himself with objects found in streets and backyards.
The former serial public masturbator Christopher Neale Roberts, last fronted court for his randy meth fuelled antics in March 2023, where the 38-year-old pleaded guilty to committing an indecent act in public.
The court heard a methed-up Roberts penetrated himself with various parts of a metal trailer while masturbating naked behind a business in the Toowoomba CBD at night.
The following morning, the business owner uncovered footage of the bizarre romp on his CCTV system, which he was going through to find out why a shirt was left on his trailer.
During the protracted solo sex act, the former jockey pleasured himself with the jockey wheel of a trailer and a glass stubby bottle.
He also managed to lower himself onto a four-foot metal pole that flanked each corner of the box trailer.
Roberts had only been released from jail 24 hours before the incident occurred and was serving time for similar crimes, however on that occasion, he was caught on CCTV committing sexual acts in a number of Toowoomba residents’ backyards.
The court heard Roberts had no excuse or explanation for the behaviour, denied having mental health issues, and refused a mental health check while in the watch house.
In March 2023, Roberts was placed on an 18-month probation order in hopes that supervision and mental health support would help get his behaviour in check.
Prior to that, Roberts had only been sentenced to jail terms for the indecent act offences.
The only victims of his crimes were the numerous residents who caught and watched his acts on CCTV.
Park pest came armed with vaseline
Another serial offender caught with his pants down engaging in sexual acts while high on meth in public is Toowoomba man Bryson James Smith.
Six months after the 28-year-old pleaded guilty to masturbating at Laurel Bank Park, he was again caught in the act.
In October 2023, Smith was caught red-handed by Toowoomba police masturbating at Laurel Park, after a number of concerned women called triple-0 and reported they were being followed by Smith.
Despite laying on the grass with tissues and a tub of vaseline, Smith told the arresting officers he was scratching his penis, which wasn’t a crime.
Police returned to the park in February 2024, however on that occasion Smith committed the indecent act for about three hours inside an unlocked toilet cubical.
The gross sight confronted a council worker who knocked on the door and announced herself, however Smith continued to gratify himself while making eye contact with her.
A disability worker caring for a special needs child was also confronted by the gross sight in the early hours of a Wednesday morning.
In March 2024, Smith pleaded guilty to committing an indecent act in public, although with a handful of minor crimes, and was sentenced to a six-month probation order.
Serial stalker creeps out teens with porn
A Toowoomba man with a creepy and concerning criminal history including exposing his penis in public, showing teen’s porn, and stalking people, will soon be released from jail.
In January 2023, Peter Anthony Turnbull followed two girls, aged 12 and 14, who were shopping with their grandmother at a Toowoomba Lifeline store.
When the girls were alone, the 52-year-old ‘dropped’ a pornographic image at their feet and began smirking at them, the Toowoomba District Court heard.
The court heard around the same time of that incident, Turnbull had his penis out while on the streets of the Toowoomba CBD, while making disgusting sexual remarks to women about their bodies.
He was sentenced a two and a half month jail term and probation order in July 2023, after pleading guilty to one count of indecent treatment of a child under 16 relating to the Lifeline incident.
More recently, the divorced dad fronted court for stalking a Toowoomba woman who was walking home from work.
At the Toowoomba Magistrates Court in March 2025, Peter Anthony Turnbull pleaded guilty to stalking and was sentenced a 276 day jail term.
In May 2023, Turnbull pleaded guilty to stalking a Harlaxton woman and in July that year, he pleaded guilty to public nuisance and stalking a Cole’s trolley collector.
On that occasion, Turnbull was sentenced to a four-month jail term.
He will be released from prison on March 25.
Salesman exposes penis in gross change room act
In September 2023, a Toowoomba salesman was sentenced to a two-year probation order for a creepy crime inside a shopping centre clothing store after pleading guilty to committing an indecent act in a public place.
The Toowoomba Magistrates Court heard Rodney William Fox, 64, exposed his penis to a young woman, thrust his crotch in her face, and asked her if he could masturbate.
During the predatory incident the churchgoer asked the young woman to fit his pants, before thrusting his penis towards her face.
Fox walked up to the woman and told her he had a problem and needed her help.
Man caught masturbating over teen at sleepover
In March 2024, the Toowoomba District Court heard Kenneth Wayne Weatherall was caught masturbating in front of a 12-year-old girl.
The court heard the young teen, who was at a sleepover at southwest Queensland home in 2022, woke up and saw Weatherall with penis in his hand while standing in a kitchen.
Weatherall then walked over to the girl and made disgusting remarks and requests before being confronted by an adult who was also in the house.
The court heard the man had a long history of drug use and mental health issues.
He pleaded guilty to exposing a child under 16 to an indecent act and was sentenced to serve an 18 month jail term.
NO CONVICTIONS RECORDED
Toowoomba dad commits ‘creepy’ shower act
A Toowoomba health and safety officer who committed an “opportunistic and creepy” crime involving a young teenage girl was sentenced before the Toowoomba District Court in March 2023.
The court heard Terry Martin Bassett was caught standing outside a bathroom window, watching a teenage girl showering while holding his phone up as if he was recording.
A day before he was sentenced on Friday, March 10, Bassett pleaded guilty to one charge of observing a person and breaching their privacy.
Given his lack of history, the Toowoomba man $1000 and ordered him to pay the girl $500 in compensation.
No convictions were recorded.
Bus driver caught masturbating at Cliffos
In November 2024, a bus driver for a mining company was caught red-handed masturbating in an exhibitory manner at a busy shopping centre carpark.
The same month, Ashley Scott Florance fronted Toowoomba Magistrates Court and pleaded guilty to committing an indecent act in a public place.
The court was told the former Australian Army serviceman was sitting in the driver’s seat of a white ute parked at Clifford Gardens Shopping Centre when he locked eyes with two women who were returning to their car after shopping.
The 50-year-old married man lifted his hips up while masturbating to expose himself to the women, who were with a very young child.
Florance was placed on a 15-month probation order and no conviction was recorded given his limited and dated criminal history.
No convictions were recorded.
