CBD hoteliers take out top gong as Franchisee of the Year

The business owners have been recognised at a National Conference for their impeccable customer service and ongoing support to the community, even throughout the pandemic.

Hotels in Australia facing holiday staff shortages

Quest Toowoomba business owners Tony and Jenny O’Reilly have been recognised for their consistent customer service excellence and ongoing support to the community at the 2022 Quest National Conference.

Mr and Ms O’Reilly won the Franchisee of the Year Award for Queensland and the Northern Territory after a strong 12 months despite the challenges that came to the industry from the Covid pandemic.

Ms O’Reilly said leading her hotel through the pandemic is what she is most proud of upon receiving the award.

“We could’ve made cuts in some areas but I wasn’t comfortable compromising. We kept supporting our community and providing the level of service our guests expect,” Ms O’Reilly said.

The awards are largely a measurement of how a business is succeeding, not only financially but how it reflects Quest’s ethics including dealing with your team, interacting with the local community, and managing guests.

Ms O’Reilly said Quest as a company overall stands out from other hotels as a majority of owners work within the business and it’s very personal.

“It’s critical to take the time to find the right team members for your business. Every time I interview someone I’m looking to offer them a long term career here at Quest,” said Ms O’Reilly.

“Our job is making your stay effortless. From the moment you check in and we ask “how can I help you”, to recommending the best local spots to check out based on why you are staying.”

As September’s Carnival of Flowers nears, Ms O’Reilly said they already have limited availability and it’s a very big month of the year not only for their hotel, but the community itself.

“Plans for Carnival of Flowers are well underway this year. Each year we partner with other local businesses to provide our guests with a gift unique to Toowoomba to take back home with them.”
