An alleged carjacker was caught after a failed attempt at stealing a second vehicle at gunpoint, according to police.
Police allege a 31-year-old Chinchilla woman was responsible for multiple armed robbery and dangerous driving incidents across Bowen on Friday, June 13.
A white MG was reportedly being driven dangerously along Don Street in Bowen at 2pm, before being driven to a Banks Dr address where police allege she carjacked a Kia Sorrento at gunpoint from a man getting out of his car.
That weapon was later identified as a gel blaster, according to police.
Police allege she discarded the MG at that address, taking the Kia Sorrento up the Bruce Highway towards Guthalungra before crashing it around 4.25pm and hitching a ride with a stranger.
The woman then allegedly tried to steal a car at gunpoint from behind a Bruce Highway service station at Merinda around 5.15pm, but police arrived shortly after and she was taken into custody.
A gel blaster was located on the driver’s seat of the alleged victim’s vehicle, police said.
The Chinchilla woman has been charged with armed robbery, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, attempted armed robbery, evading police, dangerous operation of a vehicle, two counts of stealing, and four counts of driving unlicensed.
She will appear in Bowen Magistrates Court on August 25.
