Police were called to a Toowoomba PCYC in the early hours of Saturday morning, after two people found themselves trapped in the lift.

Two people who have been charged for allegedly trespassing at the site of a Toowoomba organisation, found themselves caught in the act on Saturday morning.

It is alleged a man and woman both aged in their 40s, unlawfully entered the PCYC on James St, about 4am.

The pair attempted to gain access to the building by entering the elevator, but it faulted and they found themselves trapped inside.

Forced to ask for assistance, the male and female then called police requesting to be set free.

Police arrived on scene and rescued the duo, who said they were planning to sleep on the premises.

They were both charged with trespassing.
