Super trainers like Chris Waller and James Cummings think nothing of saddling five horses in a single race, but getting a quintet of runners ready for the fifth race at Cairns this Tuesday will be a rewarding experience for Roy Chillemi.
The Tolga trainer will present five runners in the same race when Higher Realm, Mystery ‘N’ Magic, Robig, Tennessee Boy and Apolline line up in the QTIS Jewel Qualifier 3YO Plate (1250m) at Cannon Park.
“All except Mystery ‘N’ Magic have progressed from yearlings we purchased,” Chillemi said.
“There’s a lot of work involved with bringing babies up and it’s something we work very hard at.
“I’m very lucky to be able to have these five horses in the one race — very lucky.”

Mystery ‘N’ Magic will wear Chillemi’s light blue and pink silks, with the other four to don the orange silks of Cairns Jockey Club president Tom Hedley.
Chillemi will train five of the seven runners in the fifth race, and said Higher Realm probably had the best preparation of his chances.
The winner of Tuesday’s Jewel Qualifier at Cairns will have the opportunity to target the $500,000 QTIS Jewel 3YO, to be run over 1200m at the Gold Coast on March 13.
However, Chillemi said he had not given it much thought, with the race yet to be run and won.
“There’s an old Chinese saying about how to make turtle soup. First, you must catch the turtle,” he said.
