IT’S a moment that happens only once for most brides and one that the owner of a new Toowoomba bridal store hopes to make extra special.

After taking over a pre-existing bridal store in Adelaide Lizzi Meyer has been working towards opening a brand new store in her hometown of Toowoomba.

And now the concept is well underway.

“I’m a Toowoomba girl – I grew up, went to uni and met my husband there so I know a lot about the city,” Ms Meyer said.

“For a long time I had the idea of opening up a bridal store in Toowoomba and I was always obsessed with bridal fashion.”

The new business Three Sisters Bridal will be separate to Ms Meyer’s Adelaide store and sells whimsical gowns, shoes and veils for local brides-to-be.

Catering for all different shapes and sizes the store will be stocking Australian and New Zealand brands only with fun and elegant styles.

“Our niche is quite unique and dreamy and our gowns are made with comfortable fabrics that aren’t too heavy or stiff,” Ms Meyer said.

“Our philosophy is all about making that moment you find your wedding dress very special and memorable.

“It shouldn’t be super stressful so we plan to offer longer appointment sessions – an hour and a half – to ensure brides can really browse, try on different styles and not feel rushed.”

Ms Meyer plans to return to Toowoomba for three months to complete the shop fit-out, host a launch party and officially open the local store.

“My younger sister Naomi will run the store and appointments in Toowoomba and we’ll be coming back every two to three months just to check in and see everything is running smoothly,” she said.

“And my older sister Rachel – which is where the three sisters element comes in – is actually a seamstress so we will also be offering in-house alteration services and packages.”

While the business owner is still looking an ideal site in Toowoomba’s CBD for the store to call home, she said the official opening date is set for October 1.

The website is now live allowing brides to peruse styles and stay up to date.
