The thing 'I'm A Celeb' fans have missed about Robert Irwin as host

Yes, the sneak peek trailer is cringe and has fans fiercely divided. But that's not the point here.

I'm A Celebrity Robert Irwin sends fans wild with hilarious new promo

He sings, he dances, he does some pretty impressive jazz hands. Crikey! It's Robert Irwin as we've never seen him before. And who knew it would make so many reality TV fans so angry?

Ahead of it's big March 24th premiere, Channel 10 recently posted a teaser trailer of the new series of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!

It was the first time fans got to see the khaki-clad Wildlife Warrior in his new, fancy co-hosting gig alongside funnygal Julia Morris.

Wildlife Warrior Robert dazzles as I'm A Celeb co-host

The teaser begins with Julia seated on the jungle throne listing a heap of requirements she's looking for in her new co-host.

"He has to be blonde. And funny. Well, actually an interest in animals might be refreshing," she says.

Then in comes Tarzan (aka Robert) swinging from a vine.

"Did someone say wildlife expert?" he asks cheerfully.

And then the real performance begins.

Robert begins to pitch all the reasons why he would be the perfect person to be Julia's co-host - including how he "speaks snake" and "speaks spiders". He has even had his "shots for hepatitis".

Personally, that's when I tuned out. Not because it was cringe like many on the internet were claiming it to be. But because....well.. have you SEEN the 20-year-old's GUNS??!!

I hit pause on the video so you can enjoy that below:

And before you come at me for making this a thing, I wasn't the only one to notice.

"Dayummmmmm Roberts ripped," one hot-and-heavy fan commented.

"Nice guns!💪," another chimed in.

But it wasn't enough to win over some.

Fans are fiercely divided over the new trailer

When the trailer was shared on Instgram, fans were divided over the goofy trailer.

Not mentioning any names, but one publication even went as far as slamming Robert's hosting abilities based on some of the comments.

"He's not the right fit," one person was quoted.

"Very embarrassing ad Robert. Dreadful," another person slammed.

Another put it plainly with: "This ad is cringe."

But then came the Australia Zoo mega fans, with some claiming they have never watched this reality TV show but will now that their favourite Irwin is hosting it.

"Wow! Robert, you really went for it! Great job! 🤣👍🏻👍🏻🤩," one fan shared.

"You are just adorably a natural act kid! Can’t wait to see you in this! Amazing!❤️," another added.

And another cheered: "Losing Dr Chris was a massive blow. They’ve done well appointing Robert! So excited!"

And this brings me to the point of this article and the thing people have missed (thanks for sticking with me this far and not tuning out immediately after that Magic Mike-esque moment...)

The thing you missed is... it's MEANT to be cringe!

Yes, the ad is cringe. The singing is terrible, the dancing is awkward AF, and Julia's jokes are pretty lame. But... that's the whole vibe of this show!

For those who have watched D-list celebrities in the past enter the jungle and struggle with eating things like zebra testicles, jumping out of helicopters, and having their hands nibbled by snakes, they would know that the trailer is actually perfect.

Robert isn't a singer or dancer. His performance isn't meant to be flawless. His one-liners are true to his bubbly personality and the joke about his name being "Robert" and not "Rob" is something many Irwin fans will already know about.

As for Julia, she hasn't changed. She has always been cringe and quirky. It's why we laugh along and why she's still co-host instead of the network doing a complete revamp when Dr Chris Brown left.

So leave it alone. The trailer embodies everything that this show is. And while we're on the topic of Dr Chris... I personally think Robert is a better fit anyway. There, I said it!
