An Aussie mum-of-four has heaped praise on a popular supermarket’s new tech roll out, but not everybody is on board.
Woolies is in the process of introducing new scan-as-you-go technology across select stores in Australia, which essentially brings the self-serve checkout to the trolley.
Mum-of-four Nadia shared a video using the new technology where she showed off the benefit of being able to put her shopping straight into her shopping bag after she’s scanned it through.

She then pulls into the self-serve checkout where a simple barcode scan has her full grocery shop ready to be paid for without another round of scanning.
"It was a huge time saver for me and kept my toddler happy," Nadia said.
"It saved me so much time and way less anxiety standing still while being checked out with a toddler going nuts.
“I just scanned, paid, and they have more workers helping in store now.”

"Nope, I prefer human interaction"
While the video made the process look very streamlined and straightforward, she was nonetheless met with bitter responses online.
Yahoo News reports many Aussies reacted angrily to the video, slamming the new technology for a supposed decrease in jobs, and some even chastised Nadia for embracing it.
“Do we hand them our time sheets on check out as well?” one person asked sarcastically.
“Nope, I prefer human interaction,” another person wrote. “But then, I boycotted Woolworths and Coles over a year ago.”
“Congrats, you’re now an unpaid retail worker,” another person remarked.

"Once they tried it, they'd never go back"
However, other people saw the potential value in the new way to shop.
"Y’all really enjoy taking everything out of the trolly and onto the belt at the register and waiting in lines?” one person asked.
"Exactly!" the mum replied. "Once they tried it they’d never go back."

A Woolworth spokesperson told Yahoo News the new scan-and-go technology would not impact employment, and that the roll out had “exceeded” early expectations.
"While it's been in use for just over a week, the launch of our Scan&Go trolley has exceeded expectations," they said.
"Customers are saying the trolley is saving them time and the ability to see a running total of their shop means it's helping them better manage their budget."
