"If they see you wearing skimpy clothes but telling them to dress modestly, they will think you are a hypocrite," someone slammed the New York mum.

Victoria is pretty strict when it comes to parenting her two children.

With set rules in place about the food they eat and having sleepovers, the New York influencer has come under fire a few times for her choices, including not letting her kids wear certain clothes to maintain modesty.

Now she’s hitting back at trolls who claimed her clothing choices were too risqué for a mother.

Mum hits back at trolls who slam her 'skimpy' outfits

“I can protect myself; my kids can’t”

Victoria, who boasts nearly 400,000 followers online, sparked a debate online after revealing why she chooses to wear “skimpy” clothing but makes her children dress in more modest clothing.

“It’s OK for you as a mum to wear a skimpy top like that?” someone questioned the influencer.

“Mum or not, I’m a grown woman,” she argued on her TikTok. “Just because adults drink alcohol, should kids be able to as well?”

“I can protect myself; my children cannot,” she added. “But great comparison.”

This is hardly the first controversial answer she had for her followers, frequently uploading unconventional parenting rules she enforces on her kids that her followers “would probably disagree with.”

From disallowing soft drinks and sleepovers, she also doesn’t let her kids earn an allowance, and “wearing shorts under skirts.”

“She is a grown woman. She is dressing for herself, not you”

Despite her best efforts, not everyone was impressed with Victoria’s answer, labelling her a “hypocrite.”

“But you’re teaching by example,” someone wrote. “To them, you’re going to seem hypocritical, and they’re going to resent you for it. Lead by example.”

“Then respect what you wear,” said another. “Kids follow their parent's example.”

“If they see you wearing skimpy clothes but telling them to dress [modestly], they will think you are a hypocrite,” said another.

Not everyone judged the mum, though, with some coming to her defence. “She is a grown woman,” one person argued. “What's wrong with her wearing what she likes? She is dressing for her, not for you.”

“She is a grown woman, while these are her children, and they should be dressed safely,” said another.

“The part that gets me of the comment is they said that it’s okay for you ‘as a mum’ to wear that.”
