‘I was dancing at a music festival… next thing I know, I’m going into labour’

“What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas … but not our daughter, she's coming with us!” Cristina jokes about the early arrival.

Cristina has attended the Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas for five years.

From Friday to Sunday, the festival is the highlight of her year. And this event was no different.

Except Cristina was 32 weeks pregnant, so she knew she had to take it easier than in previous years.

But it wouldn’t stop her from enjoying the artists and dancing her heart out.

“I wasn’t sure what I was feeling … it’s my first baby”

“Every year, as soon as tickets go out, I purchase them, and you know, already kind of started planning,” the 29-year-old told KSNV in Las Vegas.

She had a doctor’s appointment on the morning of the festival to confirm she could safely attend while pregnant and was given the all-clear.

All was well for the first couple of days of the event, she said. "Friday felt fine; Saturday felt completely fine," she said, noting that they were "just vibing to the music".

“Out of nowhere on Saturday night, I started to get some weird pains,” she told KVVU. “It’s my first baby, so I wasn’t sure what I was feeling.”

In the early hours of Sunday morning, she went to the first aid tent and spoke to the medical staff. After a short wait, they called for an ambulance.

She was transferred to the nearby hospital, where she gave birth to a “happy and healthy” baby girl.

“Within not even an hour of everything, they transferred me within 30 minutes to this hospital and within 15 minutes, she was here,” she told KVVU

Couple paid homage to festival in daughter’s name

The couple named their daughter Izzabella Daisy, adding an extra ‘z’ in the name as a homage to Zedd, the artist who was performing while she went into labour.

“We put Daisy for the Electric Daisy Carnival, so that's why we put Daisy as her middle name,” she told KSNV

Zedd later Tweeted images of the EDC event and asked for assistance finding Cristina. “I heard someone gave birth at the stage during my show!” he said.

“It was me,” Cristina responded, adding a photo of her newborn and boyfriend.

“Congrats!” Zedd responded. “So happy you’re both healthy and that I had the honour to be the soundtrack.”

Christina and her boyfriend, Landon, live in California but travelled to Las Vegas for the show.

Izzabella is currently in the NICU in Las Vegas, where she will stay for roughly four to six weeks.

The parents are staying in a nearby hotel and visit the hospital every four hours to “spend time with Izzabella" and have "skin-to-skin contact.”

“It's just been kind of hard, not being able to be with her 24-7, [and] take her home,” the new mum said. “She's being very well cared for; everybody’s been really nice.”
