Hannah* walked into the laundry with a hamper in her hands, ready to do the washing for the week.
Taking a step into the room, she spotted water pooling beneath the washing machine.
Great, Hannah thought, it’s leaking. She pulled open the lever and tugged the door open.
Her eyebrows raised and her heart dropped when she saw what was wrong.

Toddler took massive chunk out of washing machine
“My kid bit my washing machine, and now it leaks,” she said in a defeated Reddit post.
Sure enough, Hannah uploaded a picture of the inside of her Samsung washing machine. All seemed normal, except for a chunk missing from the edge of the rubber seal around the door.
She explained her four-year-old son was using the bathroom when he spotted the washing machine and decided to have a little nibble (or a whopping chunk) on the seal.
“It looks like it was a chomp and rip type of situation,” she laughed.
“Toddlers will eat anything except actual food.”
Thankfully, her son’s teeth were fine after eating part of the white good, but it didn’t help the situation much, especially considering how hard Hannah works to try and get her son to eat anything else at home.
“He won’t touch a grilled cheese sandwich, but he'll take a chunk out of a nasty rubber gasket?” she asked. “Kids are wild.”

“Is your kid under warranty?”
The picture quickly went viral online, with some people pointing out how ridiculous and destructive toddlers can be.
“When they say having kids is expensive THIS is actually what they mean,” a parent said.
Others informed Hannah her son had just eaten a very expensive snack, which would cost a pretty penny to repair.
“Unfortunately that’s going to require a new door gasket,” a handyman wrote.
“Samsung door gaskets are CRAZY expensive … as the way these washers are constructed there is no simple 'replace rubber seal's part,’” said another.
“Sorry little Jimmy, I can't buy you that Lego set because you used the washing machine like a chew toy,” someone joked.
“Is your kid under warranty?”
As for Hannah and her chomp-happy son, she told Reddit her husband would be spending quality time with their son replacing the rubber seal on the door.
“Both his parents aren't very happy and he'll get to spend an afternoon with his dad replacing the gasket,” she said.
“Which will likely get boring quickly for him but hey, don’t chew on the appliances then, kid.”
