As I left the house, my husband saw the baby's head poking out of me

“I just felt my body pushing her down,” mum-of-two Natasha recalled in the viral clip.

Woman gives birth on her doorstep

A woman was captured giving birth to her daughter at the front door of her house.

At 39 weeks, Natasha was well and truly ready to pop. She was scheduled to give birth at the suite later that afternoon, she visited her midwife earlier in the morning for a membrane sweep to induce a natural birth.

But Natasha never made it to the birthing suite

Instead, the Californian woman gave birth at her front door - and it was all captured on camera.

“I’m walking down the stairs, and I feel my baby coming”

Shortly after seeing her midwife, Natasha was instructed to head home. In a now-viral video uploaded online, the Californian woman was captured walking out of her house and towards the car, ready to head to the birthing suite.

Her husband picked up the luggage bags and stepped outside, but Natasha appeared very uncomfortable as she stood in the doorway.

Before they knew it, Natasha was squatting on the ground and in bouts of pain.

“I’m walking down the stairs, and I feel my baby coming,” she recalled. “I had to squat down outside, and then my waters break.”

While her contractions were coming every 15 minutes, thankfully, Natasha wasn’t in any pain. She lay on the ground in front of the door and called her midwife to share the update.

“After I hung up the phone on the midwife, I decided to wait 30 minutes and then as soon as the call ended, within two minutes, my contractions were too painful for me to stand,” she said.

Soon, Natasha’s contractions were coming every minute, so she called the midwife again. There was no time to wait; her baby was coming.

“I did everything I could to get her out. I was just in excruciating pain,” she recalled.

“I wasn’t able to stand or move, and there was no way I was getting clothes on and no way I was making it to the birthing centre.”

“My husband crouched and saw the baby’s head poking out of me”

It didn’t take long for panic to set in, and once Natasha realised she was about to give birth in front of her house, she instructed her husband to “get Nitrous Oxide and tell the midwife to get it ready”.

After squatting down and watching her waters break, her husband “crouches and sees the baby’s head poking out of me”.

“I got into the squat, and I just breathed … like I just did not push at all, and her head cleared on her own,” she said. “As my husband looked, he told me the baby’s blue and only her head was out, and I feel her pushing backward.”

Knowing something was wrong, Natasha moved onto her side and put her leg in the air, hoping to give the baby a clear passage, all while chatting to the midwife about the next move.

“I was on call to my midwife, and all I know is I have to push to clear her shoulders,” she said. “My husband got her head, and it’s amazing.” Their neighbours, who heard the commotion, rushed out and assisted, followed by Natasha’s father.

“It’s always a wave going through my body, and that was my only push, and she came out, and she was totally fine,” Natasha said. At 6:25 that evening, Natasha welcomed her healthy baby girl, Lilybella.

“My midwives arrived, and I birthed the placenta when they came,” she said. “The midwives checked the baby and gave her a vitamin K shot, and I stayed home.”
