Everything we know about the 'Plan B' brides and grooms joining MAFS

Last night, the big twist coming to the experiment was officially teased, with a host of brand new brides and grooms set to join MAFS this week and break up some of your favourite couples. Tonight's the big decision - so will they stay or will they go?

Temptation test: MAFS couples face their alternate matches!

In last night’s episode of MAFS, some of the experiment’s most consistent couples finally hit breaking point, with both Beth and Teejay and Ryan and Jacqui divided on whether to stay in the experiment, or leave.

Usually, this would result in an uncomfortable week for the pairs, forced to continue living together and participating in challenges, despite knowing that one of the two would rather be living it up at home, lapping it up with their new found followings and brand sponsorships.

However, this week is a little bit different, with the international-first twist finally confirmed on the show - and we are seated.

The mind-boggling twist

A few weeks ago, it was revealed that the brand new challenge coming to MAFS was about finding out whether the grass really is greener on the other side.

Contestants would be given an envelope containing the name of a second, back-up spouse for each of them.

Then, they’re forced to either stick with their partner and keep the envelope closed, or take a peek - without consulting their partner.

Whilst the decision to stick or twist is going to be an easy one for some couples, with Jeff and Rhi in particular set to opt against taking the bait, for others on the rocks, it will be a little bit trickier.

So far, it’s been alleged that in addition to Jeff and Rhi, Carina and Dave are the only others who choose to stay with their existing partner, with Awhina, Adrian, Beth, Teejay, Paul, Jacqui, Ryan and Jamie all choosing to meet with their back up options.

So… who’s coming in?

Last night, viewers got the very first official sneak peek of what’s to come, with a few of our back up brides and grooms confirmed.

Here’s what we know about them.

Tim King

Tim King, from the Gold Coast, is a business owner who previously revealed to the Daily Mail that he was supposed to be an original cast member, meaning he’s been waiting in the wings from the get go.

“I was supposed to be an original contestant but my bride bailed, so I went off to Europe. Then they called me back as an intruder groom, but two days before I was meant to go on, I got a call saying they went with another guy,” he said.

“I was called back again when my original bride decided to come back, but I was still in Europe, so they found a replacement groom for her.”

Ultimately, Tim was called up again to be matched with Awhina - though it appears it doesn’t work out.

“She was nice, but she wasn’t my type. I just played a counsellor role. I didn’t want to be the homewrecker,” he said.

Tara-Lee Preston

We don’t know much about Tara-Lee Preston just yet, but she’s a building specialist and fashion brand owner set to be paired up with Teejay - and apparently they’re going to hit it off.

Oisin Scully

Beth is set to be paired up with Oisin Scully - a Sydney-based, Irish personal trainer.

Rumour has it, she’s going to find him arrogant. But, she has high hopes it might help her reignite a flame with Teejay.

Maxi

Adrian is set to be paired with a woman named Maxi.

Though her Instagram is still private, the pair are still following each other - which could be bad news for Awhina (or good news, especially after last night’s debacle).

Hannah

Paul will be paired up with a woman named Hannah.

Although not much is known about her just yet, insiders told the Daily Mail she’s not overly impressed by Paul.

“She called him out straight away. She told him, ‘If you were happy, you wouldn’t be here’,” they claimed.

What’s going on with Dave and Jamie?

After the two seemed to reconcile last night at the commitment ceremony, following a heart warming week at homestays, viewers might be confused as to why Jamie in particular would choose to meet her back-up match.

But, according to insiders, the two have been divided since last week’s debacle - and are still at war with one another as the show comes to an end.

In a sneaky moment last week, Adrian seemingly confirmed that Jamie and Dave are no longer together. Insiders have confirmed to Yahoo Lifestyle that not only are the two not together - they may hate each other after all.

"Dave has felt disappointed at how Jamie has failed to defend him in all the press interviews she’s been getting lately. He thinks she has been making the backlash he’s had even worse and just stirring fans against him,” one source said.

"Jamie has been embarrassed by how Dave has been hanging out with all the has-been reality stars in Melbourne, posing for the paps and selling video messages. It just makes her think more than ever that he wasn’t on MAFS for the right reasons and she wants to distance herself completely,” said another.

"Dave and Jamie said they’d always have each other’s backs but lately it feels like they don’t want anything to do with each other and a resentment has set in,” a third added.

Yikes!
