When it comes to beauty and fashion trends, nostalgia can be both a good thing and a bad thing. But, with how cyclical the industry is, it’s inevitable that the things you once loved will be back in style sooner or later.

Recently, this has been things like bubble skirts, low-rise jeans, and overly-plucked eyebrows. However, it’s now one particular skirt from Kmart that’s causing mayhem on TikTok.

"Every Aussie girl had this skirt"

An Aussie TikTok user took to the app this week to share a video of a multi-coloured skirt from Kmart, retailing for $15.

“Just walked past this banger of a skirt,” the video’s caption said.

“#takemeback #iwanttobeforeveryoung.”

The sentiment was echoed in a similar video by TikTok creator @becky_stevens.

“I’m convinced every Aussie girl had this skirt when they were a kid,” she said in the video.

"You can't change my mind!"

“So did everyone have this skirt?”

The first video drew comments from over 100 women, reminiscing on the time when they owned the skirt themselves as a child - because apparently some things never change.

“I saw a kid wearing one yesterday took me way back,” one said.

“Oh mannn my grandma added on to the waist whenever I grew out of it, I prob could still fit into it if we didn’t donate it,” said another.

“THE MEMORIES THAT ONE OF THESE SKIRTS HOLD IS INSANE !!” a third comment said.

“Every girl had this skirt aw,” another said.

“So did everyone have this skirt?” another asked.

“Every time I see a little girl in one I get emotional,” said another.

Other Gen Z-ers and Millennials said they’re thinking about picking up the skirt once again for their kids - or for themselves.

“Next time I go to Kmart I’m buying this for my future daughter,” one said.

“They need to make an adult version,” said another.
