'At a main road?' Aussie drivers roast comical looking road sign

Apparently there's a real reason for it - but that doesn't make it look any less ridiculous.

There are all kinds of funky signs floating around that either look a little silly, or that people really have no idea what they mean.

This one shared to Reddit is a little bit of both, and we have to say, the comments are pretty funny.

“It’s just so cute”

An Aussie Reddit user has taken to the platform to share a photo of a tiny ‘give way’ sign they spotted in Moorebank.

“Tiny give way sign,” the poster wrote.

“It's just so cute.

“But why a tiny sign at a main road intersection?”

In the accompanying photo, you can see that, sure enough, the sign is extremely tiny, situated not on the road, but instead on the footpath just to the side of it.

“You only have to give way a little bit”

Needless to say, commenters thought the sign was hilarious.

“You only have to give way a little bit,” one person said.

“Just a skooch. A splash. A sprinkle of give way,” said another.

“Share way,” a third agreed.

“What is this, a give way for ants?” another person asked.

“You spotted it while it’s still a child. Give it a few weeks, it'll be full grown by then,” joked another.

“Looks like a give way sign for the possums along the fence,” another person said.

It actually has a purpose!

But, if you want a real answer, thankfully we have that too.

One commenter in particular pointed out that the other side of the sign has a symbol for cyclists and pedestrians, meaning that drivers don’t need to be looking at it at all.

“Could be for bikes or something? We have these on the bike paths that cross roads near me,” said one person.

“It's for pedestrians or people on bikes/scooters on the footpath. For kids basically to learn a bit about road rules,” another agreed.

“The back of that sign has a shared pedestrian bike sign. My guess is it's for bikes,” said a third, who also provided a very informative Google Maps link.

Still, it doesn’t make the sign any less ridiculous.
