Annoyed ALDI shoppers reveal their biggest gripes when doing their groceries

An ALDI shopper has sparked a debate about a common annoyance and now everyone is sharing theirs. So, what p*sses you off?

Are you serious?! This is why I shop at ALDI

An ALDI shopper has sparked a debate about a common annoyance that hits her every time she reaches the checkout. And before you guess, it's not the speed at which your groceries are thrown at you by the cashier!

One mother unleashed her frustration after her ALDI shop was ruined thanks to a pushy customer behind her.

"The most frustrating thing about ALDI... for me is when the person in line behind you decides to start putting their groceries on and doesn’t leave you not enough room for your stuff!! Don't get me wrong. I do still like ALDI," she posts to the ALDI Mums Facebook group

While this might seem like common courtesy, you know, waiting your turn, ALDI shoppers jumped into the chat to share how "rushed" they had been at the conveyor belt.

ALDI shoppers, where's the fire? Slow down!

"An argument started"

"I had this happened to me once. She started to move my stuff! I told her I was still offloading. She just kept putting her things on. I ended up pushing her stuff all the way back, and an argument started," one agitated shopper writes.

"I hate that, too. I once had a checkout assistant come move their stuff back, and I loved that," another writes. "They are not going any quicker; they are probably the same people who rush to stand up when a plane lands."

"This happened to me. I couldn't get my stuff on the belt because the person behind me put theirs up, so I picked it up, dumped it back into her trolley, and gave her a mouthful. She went to another register. Moral of the story don't piss people off because you feel entitled I AM one of those people that bite!" adds another not so timid shopper.

An ALDI worker then enters the chat: "If I see this happening when I’m working, I always try to loudly ask, ‘Do you have enough space for all your groceries?’ And the person behind will almost always put their stuff down embarrassingly."

"I will push my last few products down the line to push theirs back," says one pushy-shopper.

While this ALDI enthusiast offered this theory, "If that happens... you're way too slow."

"Follow me for more ALDI hacks"

It didn't take long for fellow shoppers to share their hacks for dealing with the "mean streets" of the checkout!

"Haha, I always leave my trolly at the end of the conveyor. That way, no one can unload before I finish .. follow me for more ALDI hacks," one shopper writes.

"I make sure I put my first bit of groceries behind the customer in front," a second says, "Then I grab my eggs/ bread and leave a huge gap in between to ensure I have enough room."

"I usually start from the end of the conveyor and then move forward as I unpack if there is someone ahead of me. It always gives ample room, as in the rooms in front of where you started. Dump the bread or big items at the end, then start with the cold stuff at the front," a third shopper instructs.

"Will you pay for my shopping?"

Naturally, the conversation went into other pet peeves that other shoppers had experienced in the aisles and at checkout.

"Another thing that irks me is people who just don’t bother to put the divider down (especially when they are next to them, and we are not). Does that mean you’ll pay for my shopping too, as I’m just going to start adding it on?" one cheeky shopper shares.

"There's Nothing worse than someone in front of you with a full trolley, and you only have a couple of items, and the person in front doesn't let you go through first. It's rude, for starters, so now I ask the person in front and go through," another adds.

"Can we all agree to return your discarded items to their correct spot? Just because you don't want it doesn't mean I don't," a third laments.

Finally, this shopper cheered that they would never have to deal with the drama again: "We now have self-serve, and I have to say that it has made shopping at ADLI even better. The negative of shopping there was always trying to get through the checkout quickly. Now it’s AMAZING."
