There are plenty of wonderful, family-friendly events on this weekend, including Christmas carols, billy kart races, historical displays and much, much more.

From Christmas carols, billy kart races and historical displays there are plenty of wonderful, family-friendly events on this weekend. Here’s 10 things you can do across the Darling Downs this weekend.

1: Christmas in the Bush

Are you looking for a unique gift for that someone special? Drop in to the Bush Christmas Exhibition over the weekend and browse among the many locally-made items. 

Held annually in the Masonic Lodge building at 58 Neil Street, the Bush Christmas exhibition brings together makers from Southern Queensland.

They sell everything from handmade clothes, one-of-a-kind gifts and plenty of tasty food.

The exhibition is open from 9am-6pm on Saturday and Sunday.

2: Celebrate local legend

Supercar champion Will Brown will be hailed as a conquering hero at a public event at Cars Galore.

The 26-year-old claimed his first Repco Supercars championship in his first season with the Triple Eight team and fans can celebrate with Brown, his No. 87 Red Bull Ampol Chevrolet Camaro and Adelaide 500 trophy. Doors open from noon to 2pm on Sunday at 129 Herries St.

3: Harvest weekend

Get ready for a fun weekend of history, heritage, and harvesting at Jondaryan Woolshed.

Browse the market stalls, watch the live demonstrations, and enjoy some authentic damper, scones, and more.

Gates open at 9.30am on Saturday and Sunday.

Tickets can be purchased at the gate.

4: Carols by Candlelight

Experience the magic of Christmas carols and community spirit at The Stables in Cecil Plains.

With only one month until Christmas Day, this event is guaranteed to get you in the festive mood.

Enjoy a sausage sizzle, carols, and more.

The singing starts at 5.30pm on Sunday.

5: Ride the rails

Take a step back in time and explore the rich history of the Darling Downs on this charming train tour departing from the DownsSteam Tourist Railway and Museum.

Hop aboard the iconic Clifton Clipper railmotor for a chance to see the meticulous restoration up close.

Bring your family and friends for an unforgettable journey on Sunday.

6: Science Nature Art

Get creative this weekend and dive into a world where science, nature, and art collide at the Cobb and Co Museum.

Explore a variety of hands-on activities, experiences, and workshops that are guaranteed to teach you something new.

It’s great for all ages and abilities, and is free with admission.

The museum is open 9am-4pm daily.

7: Concert in the Church

The Toowoomba Concert Band presents its Kaleidoscope of Sound concert at St Luke’s church.

The varied program, lasting an hour, includes Fame, Caravan, Christmas songs and carols and Trumpet Voluntary, featuring our talented young trumpeter, Leah Jones.

Admission is adults $10, cash only, with concession card holders and high school students $8. Younger children can enter for free.

The music starts at 2pm on Sunday.

8: Peak into the past

Drop into the Highfields Pioneer Village this Sunday for a fun-filled day.

Ride the mini train, take a vintage bus tour, watch some sheep shearing, enjoy a sausage sizzle, explore the Fire Engine Museum, Ambulance Museum, and snack on some billy tea and damper,

Oh, and don’t forget the Big Cow.

9: Dine in the Vines

Indulge in an intimate dining experience at Rosalie House with your closest friends, nestled among the vines, and enjoy a meal you’ll never forget.

10. Markets

Every Saturday, the Toowoomba Farmers’ Market is at 27 Lindsay St, East Toowoomba, near the windmills at Cobb Co Museum from 7am to noon.

Every Sunday, you can find something amazing at the Toowoomba PCYC Market at 219 James St from 7am to 12.30pm.
