Rather than roses and chocolates, Toowoomba couples went with an unconventional gift for Valentine’s Day — the chance to paint each other. See the final works here.

As far as Valentine’s Day gifts go, Abbey Willmington couldn’t fault her partner Drew Marquette for this one — taking turns painting each other on canvas over a glass of wine.
The pair was one of four couples taking part in the Sip Studio’s Paint Your Partner session on Sunday night, which allows people with no artistic background to create amazing pieces to hang at home.
Ms Willmington, who met Mr Marquette while she was living in Canada two years, said the process was hardly daunting.
“This is probably my favourite Valentine’s Day gift, it was funny watching him having a go,” she said.
“I did art at uni but he’s never picked up a paint brush and I don’t think it matters.”
The session’s theme was Picasso-style cubism, with a focus on style over realism.
Sip Studio Toowoomba manager and art teacher Jodie Ramage said the session catered for all experience levels.
“It’s just one of those activities where people can get together, have a laugh and drink and get coached from the start to finish,” she said.
