Toowoomba’s tastebuds have been treated to an abundance of flavours this month with the Carnival of Flowers, but one of the region’s most treasured food festivals is set to take the heat to a new level.

The Murphys Creek Chilli Carnival will return for the 12th time in eight years this weekend, with international food trucks, chilli-infused delights and 500 hot sauces on offer.

Brave patrons are dared to take part in several eating challenges including the chilli dog, hot chip and sour icy pole championships.

Event co-director Jason O’Connor said the team behind the festival was thrilled to bring the carnival back to Murphys Creek for another year.

“It’s the spice of life we love when we bring together a community of passionate producers and international food trucks from across Australia to Murphys Creek,” he said.

“We are also proud to support numerous charities plus hundreds of family businesses over eight years of national events.”

The family-friendly event will have entertainment for all ages with live music, raffles, lucky dips, games and a playground also available on the day.

Pets are also welcome to attend.

Hosted by Chilli Festivals Australia, the carnival will be held at 16 Jessie Lane in Murphys Creek on Sunday, September 17, from 10am to 3pm.

Entry is $2 per person and proceeds will be donated to Rural Aid.
