The Toowoomba power couple who transformed a struggling CBD pub into a thriving live music venue have revealed they are putting it on the market.
Met Hotel owners Kosta and Jasmine Theodosis are calling time on their publican careers for now, with the site on the corner of Ruthven and Bowen streets being listed this week through LJ Hooker Toowoomba.
It caps off a remarkable turnaround for the old Metropole, which was completely revitalised by the pair three years ago and has become known as a destination for emerging live music talent.
On top of revamping the ground floor to cater for dining, drinking and gigging, the Theodosis’ also recently reintroduced short-stay accommodation to the top floor.
It also comes just a few months after they announced the purchase of the Golden Grain Motel in Pittsworth.
Mr Theodosis, himself an accomplished drummer, said it was time for a change of scenery.
“We had an incredible three years, but it’s time to move on for us and focus on our young family and whatever comes next,” he said.
“It’s going to be a great opportunity for someone.
“Everything is staying in place in the venue so someone can just walk in and get started right away.”
The venue, which has a history dating back to 1864, has 820sq m of floor space over two levels.
Lead agent Chris Stewart said the property would be an ideal venture for an owner-occupier.
“Kosta and Jasmine have done a great job at changing the vibe of that corner,” he said.
“They’ve created a safe space for undiscovered musical talent, and you can leverage.
“It was trading really well, they just can’t do any more to it and they’ve got other things on.
“These guys put thought into the feel of the pub, and they’ve given the blueprint for someone to come in and put their spin on it.”
