One of Toowoomba’s longest-running barbershop businesses will open its new expanded location this weekend, and the launch includes free men’s and boy’s cuts.
Joel’s Barbershop recently revealed it was leaving its location on Margaret Street in the Toowoomba CBD after 15 years.
Now barber Joel Watson and wife Susan Zammit will open at the Eastville Village in East Toowoomba from Saturday.
In a unique twist, Ms Zammit said the shop will feature a central entrance point and split into a men’s barbershop and women’s salon (called Mosta Hair) on each side.
“We are incredibly excited and looking forward to welcoming everyone to our new salon,” she said.
“It is the first of its kind in Toowoomba.
“In addition, our central reception area will ensure that every client is welcomed and embraced from the moment they arrive.”
Mr Watson said the business would employ some 16 people and open from 7am until 9pm on most days to meet the needs of shift workers and busy parents.
“Many of our staff have been with us for many years — in fact one of our team members has been with us for 18 years,” he said.
“We really value our team and are so grateful for their wonderful contributions to our business and our community.
“We have chosen Eastville Shopping Centre because of its central and convenient location and range of other amenities including ample free parking.”
Vicki Leavy, general manager of Eastville Shopping Centre owner JMK Retail, said she was excited by the addition of Mr Watson and Ms Zammit.
“Susan and Joel are much loved members of the community and we are delighted to welcome them and their team,” she said.
The barbershop and salon will be open on Saturday from 7am and offer free haircuts for men and boys ahead of the return of school.
