Blue Mountain Hotel: 19th-century Toowoomba pub completes $4.5m redevelopment at Harlaxton

It’s one of Toowoomba’s most historic pubs that now has new life breathed into it — and the company behind it has revealed some of the neat new features in it.

One of northern Toowoomba’s oldest pubs has finally completed its massive redevelopment, including fully-serviced gaming rooms open until 4am.

National company ALH Group has put the final touches on the revamped Blue Mountain Hotel in Harlaxton, with the works including a new sports bar, refurbished bistro and renovated gaming facilities.

ALH operations manager Jeff Sansom said the new gaming area brought the pub in line with its sister venues the Wilsonton Hotel and the Federal Hotel.

“We’ve now finalised the renovations, the gaming room has now opened and that is a fully-serviced room,” he said.

“The main bar was the first stage but now that gaming room is completed with extended hours until 4am.

“We’ve also got a staff member in there, there was never a cashier before — they’re dedicated to looking after the patrons with food, soft drinks and serving any alcoholic beverages.

“The Wilsonton and Fed are both 4am venues, there are a couple that do this so we’re bringing this room into the new age.”

Mr Sansom said the company wanted to set a high standard at the Blue Mountain Hotel.

“We see ourselves really setting the bar high and creating a place for watching sports and enjoying a brew or a cocktail.”

The venue hosted its launch last month, raising more than $2800 for the Toowoomba Hospital Foundation in the process.

It comes a year after refurbishment works started.
