Well-loved Toowoomba restaurant The Plate has announced it will shut its doors at the end of the month.
“After many unforgettable years, The Plate Restaurant will be closing its doors as you know it on July 26th,” the restaurant’s owners posted to social media on Friday afternoon.
“This decision wasn’t made lightly, and it comes with deep gratitude for every memory, meal, and moment we’ve shared together.
“From cozy dinners by the fireplace to celebrations big and small, you’ve helped make The Plate more than just a restaurant — you’ve made it a home.”
The Ruthven St restaurant’s announcement closely follows the abrupt closure of butchery The Paddock in April, which was situated at the same site.
The Liquor Legends bottleshop, which is also housed at the former Delacey’s Hotel in North Toowoomba, will remain open.
The owners of The Paddock also run Bone Idol Bar and Preston Manor, which will both remain operational.
“While this chapter is closing, it’s not the end. We’re already dreaming up what’s next — new projects, fresh ideas, and exciting experiences are on the horizon,” the social media post said.
The restaurant, bar and craft brewery opened in 2022.
It received a chef’s hat just over a year after its opening.
Patrons can still book for the restaurant’s final week of service.
