LG Styler: Road Test

It’s a standalone cupboard that uses the power of steam to ‘refresh’ your clothes without requiring a trip to the dry cleaners. Sounds a bit wanky, really.

WHAT A STYLISH REFRIGERATOR! BUT WHY IS IT IN YOUR BEDROOM? It’s not a fridge, it’s a steam closet.

A WHAT NOW? It’s a sort of standalone cupboard that uses the power of steam to “refresh” your clothes – getting rid of odours and allergens, and smoothing out wrinkles – without requiring a trip to the dry cleaners.

SOUNDS A BIT WANKY. Well, it’s beyond most people’s needs, to be sure – but clothes connoisseurs will love it. It has space to hang five garments; after puffing them with steam from below, it uses a low heat to dry them. There’s also a trouser press on the inside of the door, for keeping your “creases looking crispy”, LG says.

VITAL STATISTICS: It’s almost 2m tall and 60cm wide, with a stylish mirrored front; it doesn’t need plumbing, only a plug socket. You can use the companion phone app to operate it remotely and monitor progress. A quick refresh takes only 20 minutes.

CAN YOU USE IT AS A BIJOU SAUNA, IN A PINCH? It doesn’t say anywhere that youcan’t. Take an emergency whistle, though.
