📻 Is triple j ok?
Good morning!
If you've snoozed three times through your alarm, turn this up.
While we were sleeping supermodels roamed the earth.
Well in Paris, on a runway, not in the actual wild, despite the above scenes our chic colleagues at Vogue witnessed.
The Balenciaga haute couture show was held and had an all star line up including Kim Kardashian, Nicole Kidman, Naomi Campbell and Dua Lipa.
(It's the gasp from the front row when Kidman strolls out for me).
Albo and Dom got dunked
The Prime Minister is home and joined with NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet to tour flood affected regions in NSW on Wednesday.
The power couple got cornered by some locals - some who have experienced extreme weather conditions and floods four times this year - about how hard it is dealing with governments at all levels when they need help. Immediately. The leaders handled it well and were measured in their responses (refreshing!)
Anthony Albanese, standing alongside Perrottet, then announced flood payments of $1000 for all impacted adults and $400 for impacted children.
As of last night, there were 85,000 active evacuation orders in place around the state due to rising water levels.
The @NSWSES is working around the clock to help people affected by the floods in NSW. @Dom_Perrottet and I thanked the SES today. River systems are still rising in some areas, and driving through floodwaters remains a risk. Remember: if itâs flooded, forget it. pic.twitter.com/nov9cbeGlJ

It's like the Babar finale up in here
WA is a different place. It's got some quirks. One of the best is its absolute love for Perth Zoo's matriarch - Tricia.
At 65-years-old the elephant, who is one of the oldest in the world, ruled the roost and the city, even having a ferry named in her honour.
So hearts are heavy in the Big State today as it was revealed last night the Big Girl had enjoyed her final peanut.
Itâs with a heavy heart that we announce our beloved Asian Elephant, Tricia, has passed away. ð pic.twitter.com/DhNbgfrz2b

Boris Johnson is still the Prime Minister
I've seen miracles. I mean, I was a woman in possession of eyebrows in the 1990s so I know pain and the long road back to redemption, but I have never witnessed anything as torturous as what's going on, and down, at No 10 in London.
BoJo appears to - once again - be holding onto his premiership by the width of our skinny brows.
On Wednesday the British Treasurer and Health Minister quit as more scandal engulfed the PM and the Conservative party.
Just when you think it couldn't get any worse than Partygate - where the PM and his cronies hosted wine and cheese nights in his office while the rest of the country was locked down and had to say farewell to dying loved ones via FaceTime (not even the Queen was immune to his rules), soaring inflation, striking public transport workers and a cooked health system - readers, it's gotten worse.
Johnson has again been hit by allegations that he failed to come clean about another politician who was appointed to a senior position despite claims of sexual misconduct.
The PM has faced pressure to explain what he knew about previous misconduct allegations against lawmaker Chris Pincher, who resigned as deputy chief whip last week amid complaints that he groped two men at a private club.
The government’s explanation shifted repeatedly over the past couple of days.
Ministers initially said Johnson was not aware of any allegations when he promoted Pincher to the post in February.
On Monday, a spokesman said Johnson knew of sexual misconduct allegations that were “either resolved or did not progress to a formal complaint.”
Chancellor Rishi Sunak quit on Tuesday, after weeks of speculation about whether he would stand by Johnson following a recent, yet unsuccessful, vote of no confidence was called against him.
"The public rightly expect government to be conducted properly, competently and seriously. I recognise this may be my last ministerial job, but I believe these standards are worth fighting for and that is why I am resigning," Sunak, who's own wife has been at the centre of some dodgy tax dodging claims, said.
"I have concluded that the problem is at the top and that's not going to change," health secretary Sajid Javid said after handing in his notice.
As I write this six more MPs have resigned. Which takes BoJo's body count to 35 pollies who have resigned since 6pm Tuesday.
This is like watching Mario Kart being played with blindfolds
It's worrying when our close Quad partner, solid ally and cashed up trading mate Japan have publicly decried Aussie politics.
For the less well-versed in international diplomacy, Japan is pissed.
The Sunshine State could really use some of Harry Styles' joyous Music For A Sushi Restaurant right now as Japan's Ambassador has clapped back the Queensland government's decision to tax the crap out of coal miners in order to use the royalties to fill its Budget holes.
Shingo Yamagami warned that a steep royalty hike - set to become the world's highest taxes - had triggered a rethink about whether the state remained a “safe and predictable” investment destination.
Speaking at an event at the University of Queensland on Wednesday he said Japanese companies - including Idemitsu, Mitsubishi and Mitsui - had invested heavily in the state’s coal industry and that royalty rises unveiled in the June 21 budget risked damaging “trust and goodwill” built up over years.
“Some Japanese companies are already questioning whether Queensland will continue to be the safe and predictable place to invest they had known for decades,” he said.“I fear that this may have widespread effects on Japanese investment beyond the coal industry. The companies I mentioned earlier are involved not only with minerals, but hydrogen, infrastructure and a variety of cutting edge technologies.”
Christian Porter is back at the Bar
The former Attorney-General has returned to his roots as a lawyer since quitting politics.
Porter's first case in private practice will be representing Melbourne identity Mick Gatto in a defamation claim against the ABC.

Bette Midler used the "w" word
Gyspy star, First Wives Club icon and Beaches legend Bette Midler has been smashed on social media for defending women and getting into virtual fights about trans issues.
WOMEN OF THE WORLD! We are being stripped of our rights over our bodies, our lives and even of our name! They donât call us âwomenâ anymore; they call us âbirthing peopleâ or âmenstruatorsâ, and even âpeople with vaginasâ! Donât let them erase you! Every human on earth owes you!

The queer icon and comedian who started her career singing in gay bathhouses, then clarified her tweet saying she didn't mean for it to come across as transphobic, she was responding to a divisive opinion piece published by the New York Times.
PEOPLE OF THE WORLD! My tweet about women was a response to this fascinating and well written piece in the NYT on July 3rd. Â https://t.co/MlsATlrr1r. There was no intention of anything exclusionary or transphobic in what I said; Â it wasnât about that.

In news that will surprise no one
Rihanna is ridiculously successful. The singer, actor, beauty mogul, fashion designer, philanthropist and equality advocate can also add a new string to her bow - the new mum is now the youngest self-made female billionaire.
She's now worth a reported $2bn and is just 34-years-old.
She recently appeared on Forbes’ annual list of America’s richest self-made women for the third year in a row.
Rhi ranked 21st overall, and is the list’s only billionaire under age 40.
Her news follows being crowned as an official "National Hero" of her home country Bardados back in April.

This week the latest radio ratings were released and some keen observers found that triple j - the ABC's beloved cheeky and way cooler younger cousin - is struggling to pull numbers.
In the fourth ratings period of the year the youth station shed listeners from its core 18-24 year-old audience pool.
In Sydney it slipped 3.6 points, 5.2 in Melbourne, 0.5 in Brisbane, lost 2.0 in Adelaide and 1.5 over in Perth.
However, the way they calculate ratings is unique. They still use surveys which are filled out with a pencil.
On the flipside, the JJJs have a solid social life. More than 1.2m of us follow the network on Instagram alone.
