Elon Musk threatens to bring back Vine
With his trademark gusto, the billionaire has renovated the birdcage.
With his trademark gusto, the billionaire has renovated the birdcage.
The world's richest man, Elon Musk, is wasting no time sweeping out the c-suite at Twitter and replacing it with his trusted inner circle during his first days as its new owner.
As Musk publicly polls Twitter users on potential features, the working group are already exploring initiatives behind the scenes to boost revenue, The Wall Street Journal reports.
Musk denies he will turn the social media platform into a "hellscape", instead saying it should be "warm and welcoming to all".
Musk changed his Twitter bio to "Chief Twit" when he bought the company for $44bn, and has since changed it to "Twitter Complaint Hotline Operator" with a profile picture of a child using a landline phone.

Elon is now the sole board member
First, he walked in with a sink and a terrible pun.

Then he fired everyone in the C-suite except the kitchen sink, including the CEO, CFO, top policy and legal executive, and the general counsel. Twitter's chief customer officer, Sarah Personette, resigned on Friday. She tweeted that news.
Musk appointed himself CEO as the Washington Post reported that his golden circle is considering dismissing 25% of the company's staff.
Not the sole member of the new 'content moderation council', though
Elon Musk said he will form a content moderation council "widely diverse viewpoints".
Vine vs. TikTok
If Musk's trademark gusto is applied to the results of this poll, Vine will be back to take on TikTok.
Twitter bought, then quickly shut down, Vine in 2017.

Paying for Blue
Musk says Twitter Blue users will pay a monthly fee (adjusted to each country's purchasing power) to get:
- Priority in thread replies, mentions and search
- Fewer ads
- Ability to post longer multimedia
- Paywall bypass for some publishers
The Twitter Blue monthly subscription has been in market for about a year and offers features like an "undo tweet" option.
And to any complaints about the fee, the new owner says:

Trump's Twitter return?
As we have previously reported, there is a lot of poetry penned by the former US President lost when he was booted off Twitter so he could not incite any further violence following the January 6 insurrection.
Back in April Trump told Fox News, "no, I am not going back to Twitter.”
If I had a dollar for every time someone asked me if Trump is coming back on this platform, Twitter would be minting money!
