Victoria Police will oppose the bail application of Porsche obsessed Richard Pusey after he was jailed for allegedly taunting a dying police officer before fleeing the Eastern Freeway crash scene, the state’s top cop has confirmed.

Chief Commissioner Graham Ashton said on Friday that Mr Pusey was expected to apply for bail on Monday after he was arrested on George Street in the inner Melbourne suburb of Fitzroy on April 23.

“We’re expecting a bail application, I think it’s Monday,” he told reporters on Friday.

“We’ll be opposing bail.”

Mr Pusey remains in jail after he was charged with nine offences, including failing to render assistance, reckless conduct endangering serious injury and three counts of committing an indictable offence while on bail.

Mr Ashton said Victoria Police would oppose Mr Pusey’s bail application on the seriousness of the alleged offending.

“The actions we’re alleging he engaged in we believe is at the very high end of that indictable offence,” he said.

“We’ll be saying that’s in the public interest.”

It is alleged that Mr Pusey was driving his $150,000 Porsche coupe on Melbourne’s Eastern Freeway at 149km/h on April 22, with methamphetamine and cannabis in his system.

He was urinating on the side of the road when a Connect Logistics branded truck veered to the left, killing all four officers who had been dealing with him — Constable Joshua Prestney, Constable Glen Humphris, Senior Constable Kevin King and leading Senior Constable Lynette Taylor.

Mr Pusey was allegedly caught on bodycam berating Constable Taylor about wanting sushi and about the damage to his Porsche as she lay dying under the truck.

Truck driver Mohinder Singh has been charged with culpable driving causing the officers’ deaths.

Victoria Police with assistance from their NSW counterparts raided properties connected to Connect Logistics in northwest Sydney last week.

In Melbourne, Victoria Police raided the homes of people linked to the trucking company in the suburbs of Croydon and Frankston on April 27.

The week before detectives had executed warrants at properties connected to the trucking company in Melbourne.

Mr Ashton said the Victoria Police bikie gangbusting Echo Taskforce was not assisting the investigation into the Eastern Freeway crash.

The director of Connect Logistics has not responded to The Australian’s repeated requests for comment.
