John Farnham makes first public appearance since jaw surgery
Photos of Australian singer John Farnham have been made public for the first time since his jaw reconstruction, as he attended his son Rob’s wedding.
Aussie music legend John Farnham has reappeared following lifesaving surgery to his jaw due to oral cancer.
The beloved star, 74, is seen in a throwback photo attending his son Rob’s wedding.
Farnham was in proud-dad mode for the ceremony, which was held at Hopewood House in the NSW town of Bowral in February.
The wedding took place just months after doctors declared Farnham all clear of cancer a year after he was hospitalised in August 2022 to remove a mouth tumour.
During his hard-fought battle, the star underwent reconstructive plastic surgery and stints in rehabilitation, including eight weeks of radiation treatment.
Farnham, rocking a dashing navy suit with a contrasting bronze tie and pocket, held his wife Jill’s hand in the image, which was posted to Instagram by Rob on Sunday.
“Shared the happiest moment with my favourite person in the universe and she said I do. Melissa, my life is forever better that you’re apart of it,” the groom gushed.
“You looked radiant, beautiful and elegant. I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for us and I’m truly honoured to have you by my side as my wife for life.”
The images instantly attracted a huge number of well wishes, both for the happy couple and for the Australian music icon.
“Such a beautiful father-son pic,” one wrote.
“It’s so nice to see your dad, he looks fantastic,” commented another.
In August 2022, Farnham underwent emergency 12-hour surgery in Melbourne following a shock cancer diagnosis.
It took the star a full 12 months before he was able to make his first personal statement post-surgery, saying “I am the luckiest man I know right now”.
“I’ve lost count as to how many other procedures there’s been,” he said last August.
“But, I’m home now and I’m a very grateful and happy man. I’m sitting here in my living room lapping up the attention from my beautiful wife, Jill, my boys Rob and James and my mini Schnauzer, Edmund.
“It’s only now that I can start to appreciate and comprehend, for myself, how many messages of love and support have been sent to me over the past year.
“I don’t know what to say, other than thank you so very much.”
