Trump’s buddies Kim Jong-un and Vladimir Putin to get short shrift with Joe Biden
“We was robbed” is a very well known adage. Its incorrect grammar, if anything, adds to its power. When it comes from the lips of Donald Trump it sounds like sour grapes because that is exactly what it is.
His claims of false votes bringing him undone are made on the basis of no evidence whatsoever.
Given his record, this kind of performance is in character. Wild claims have come from him before. We have become inured to this phenomenon because it keeps happening. What is stunning is that Rudy Giuliani backed up those claims.
Giuliani has deservedly been an admired, somewhat heroic figure. He was the man who cleaned up the streets of New York after he was elected mayor. His three strikes and you are in jail policy was so successful that for a time New York looked like a relatively safe city. Now his star has fallen so far that he is reduced to mouthing utterly baseless claims of vote rigging causing Trump’s defeat. To see a man of his intelligence being led by the nose by an inferior intellect like Trump is truly sad.
Politics in America is devoid of men and women who could inspire and unite this divided country. While Kamala Harris certainly commands respect and attention, if anything she is a divisive figure.
No kisses for Kim from Biden
Biden, on the other hand, has taken to his new job with rare verve and gusto for a man almost in his eighties. Trump downplayed COVID-19 while Biden is making real efforts to limit its effect on America.
There will be no kiss and cuddle photo opportunities with Kim Jong-un. The North Korean strongman will be treated like the murderous dictator he truly is.
Trump’s attempts to somehow legitimise this monster thankfully came to nothing. For all his bowing and scraping to the corpulent dictator, Trump never got any concessions from him.
Blood on Putin’s hands
Putin was also portrayed by Trump as the kind of guy you could bring home to meet mum. Anyone who dares to speak up against him has a nasty habit of being poisoned. Opposition politicians usually have to campaign from a jail cell because this guy only wants elections where candidates wedded to him are unopposed. The tragedy is this is usually the case in Russia. Putin came out of the KGB and many of those he appoints to powerful positions can make the same claim. I’m not sure mum would be too impressed if you brought this guy around for a cup of tea.
Practically every nation which was forced to stand behind the banner of the old USSR was desperate to leave and at the first opportunity they all reached out to Western Europe. Now, to maintain some influence around the world Putin arms one side or the other in conflicts, like Africa in particular. This is a man with blood on his hands. He has no conscience and only concerns himself with the preservation of his hold on the reins of power.
