Taylor Swift fans are posting jobs for hundreds of dollars to gig economy online jobs platform Airtasker in a bid to get Eras Tour tickets and merchandise.

Airtasker has recorded a surge in demand for Taylor Swift related tasks in the lead up to the superstar’s sold-out concerts in Melbourne and Sydney which kick off this week.

Fans have taken to the site and willing to pay hundreds of dollars for people to queue up at the MCG in Melbourne this weekend for merchandise, rides home from the concert or to snap a photo.

It comes as thousands of fans crowded into the Crown Melbourne pop-up merchandise store on Tuesday.

Ben M from Melbourne said on an Airtasker listing that he is “willing to pay $100” for someone to stand in line for merchandise for his daughters “because his flight won’t arrive in time.”

“My daughter would be over the moon,” he said.

The average going price for a Taylor Swift task is $120 on Airtasker, with requests such as “take/send a photo of the Taylor Swift Countdown clock at Crown Barangaroo” for $20.

Others are using the site to secure transport for the night, with Alex C from Sydney posting a job for $120 for a ride home from Accor Stadium at Sydney Olympic Park for Sunday February 25.

Airtasker co-founder and CEO, Tim Fung, said “swifties are crushing it on Airtasker, and are proving yet again to be dedicated and diehard fans.”

“So, we weren’t surprised with the surge in tasks posted so that thousands can make the most of this once in a lifetime concert experience.

“We’re glad fans are able to put their trust in our Tasker community to help them make sure it will be a night they never forget.”

Airtasker reported strong growth the 2023 financial year, with statutory revenue growing 40.4 per cent to $44.2m versus $31.5m for the year ended 30 June 2022

This result reflected organic growth in the Airtasker marketplace in Australia and a full year revenue contribution from the Oneflare marketplace.

“Whether it’s every day tasks or things that are so obscure they have nowhere else to go but Airtasker, it’s becoming the go-to destination for Aussies to get things done,” Mr Fung said.

“Whether it’s cleaning the house, lining up for Taylor Swift Merch, or getting your taxes done – the people in the Airtasker community really rely on each other in every pillar of their lives.”
