Multi-billionaire property developer Harry Triguboff is looking to acquire his third site in Surfers Paradise to develop another apartment tower, given the strong sales of luxury units at his beachside Ocean development, which is nearing the currently scheduled end of phased construction.

The 76-level Ocean tower, fronting The Esplanade, sports 400 residential units and 300 serviced apartments.

Mr Triguboff’s Meriton group is the foundation of his $20.8bn fortune, making him the country’s wealthiest property developer and placed 6th overall on The List – Australia’s Richest 250.

He said while some of the upper floor penthouses in Ocean will be retained for his children to use, he has sold 300 out of the 400 residential apartments on offer.

“I will be keeping some on the top levels. I have a penthouse, it’s there for the children to use,” Mr Triguboff said.

Apartment prices start from around $550,000 for a one-bedroom and one-bathroom apartment in the beachfront tower.

Meriton purchased a second site in Surfers Paradise last year where he plans a similar number of apartments to his Ocean tower.

Cook offers a slice of waterfront

Best-selling cookbook author Kim McCosker has a price guide of $3.95m on her waterfront holding in Queensland’s Pelican Waters, in the Sunshine Coast region, which is for private treaty sale through Linda Feltman, of McGrath Caloundra.

Ms McCosker, the curator of the 4 Ingredients franchise is selling her six bedroom, four bathroom mansion on a 1068sq m north-facing block.

Ms McCosker says Bribie Island is a mere 15 minute cruise away from her 19 Artunga Place property and she is also offering a 16-seater luxury Runaway Bay 28ft Pontoon Boat named Sunday, and a Yamaha FX WaveRunner Jetski and trailer with the property, north of Brisbane.

The residence has parking for four cars and includes a jetty.

Counting on striking views

Retired chartered accountant Ian Robinson is expecting about $7.3m for his Milsons Point apartment with stunning views of the Opera House and bridge. Born in Sydney, Robinson has been based in Hong Kong for more than 35 years presiding over large insolvency cases.

He has listed his three bedroom Northcliff St apartment for auction on April 30 through The Agency’s Scott Thornton. Robinson paid $3.2m in 2003 for the sprawling 237sq m unit which sports a large terrace, ensuite to every bedroom and two car spaces. The block was developed in 1999.

All money on Barangaroo

A long-time friend and employee of late media mogul Kerry Packer has forked out $24m for an apartment in Crown’s Barangaroo, where Mr Packer’s son James owns a unit which he bought for $72m.

Julie Trethowan, a Packer employee for more than 20 years, bought the apartment in October, according to CoreLogic data, settling on March 25.

She joins other rich listers in the tower including Trevor Rowe, a former managing director of Rothschild Bank who paid $13m, and retired bookie Bob Blann who spent $41m.

Ms Trethowan recently listed her waterfront penthouse in nearby Elizabeth Bay, renowned as the private retreat of Kerry Packer, through Pillinger’s Brad Pillinger with buyers reportedly at the $25m mark. It’s believed to be close to selling.
