For the first time in two years The Australian’s smash-hit podcast The Teacher’s Pet is back.
Following the dramatic conviction of Chris Dawson, Hedley Thomas’s award-winning investigation returns to audiences from this Saturday.
Until The Teacher’s Pet, the mysterious circumstances surrounding Lynette Dawson’s disappearance in 1982 remained unsolved, despite two coronial inquests recommending charges be laid against her former husband.
The 16-episode podcast has been credited for reigniting police interest in the cold case, with fresh revelations thrusting Lynette’s disappearance into the spotlight and overturning decades of inaction and neglect.
No body, no witnesses and no admissions. But this week Justice Ian Harrison delivered his long-awaited verdict: guilty.
The Teacher’s Pet has been unavailable since April 2019 for legal reasons, but now listeners have the chance to discover or rediscover the most popular podcast in Australian history.
Those returning to it may notice some changes, as Chris Dawson faces a further criminal charge. The original has required minor edits to remove legally sensitive material.
Subscribers to The Australian will have complete access to coverage of The Teacher’s Pet.
