Swearing heard during ABC radio bulletin
ABC radio broadcast interrupted by presenter uttering expletives in on-air gaffe | LISTEN
An ABC radio presenter turned the air blue on Saturday night, repeatedly swearing at the top of his voice while presenting a news bulletin.
During the 10pm radio news in Adelaide on Saturday, presenter Tim Wharton twice screamed “f*** off” in the middle of the bulletin, apparently unaware that his microphone was on.
As he read the news headlines, Wharton sounded annoyed, stumbling through sentences that did not seem to make sense.
“There’s been more problems with Brisbane after a more (sic) Covid restrictions in the city. Here’s the report,” Wharton said on air.
The bulletin then cut away to a reporter delivering the latest Brisbane news, and shortly afterwards Wharton could be heard yelling, “f*** off”.
Following a delay of several seconds, Wharton returned on-air and then cut away to a second story on China, before again screaming “f*** off”.
After a few minutes, a different radio announcer took over the broadcast.
It was not clear who, if anyone, was the target of Wharton’s frustration.
An ABC spokeswoman said they are looking into what happened and checking on the welfare of the staff member.
