Free-to-air television broadcaster Seven Network says it will sweep the 2018 ratings year, and notch up the 12th consecutive year as the number one network and channel.

After 34 of the 40 ratings weeks, Seven says it has “unassailable leads” across 14 categories, which it expects to win.

Seven says the have the number one news, breakfast and morning shows, plus the top winter sport, AFL, and number one drama show, The Good Doctor.

Seven’s director of network programming Angus Ross said it has “broken records and dominated the ratings throughout the year.”

“In fact, in every month we have never dropped below a 39 per cent share, while our competitors have never been above 39 per cent.

“Our worst is still better than their best,” Mr Ross said in a statement.

Mr Ross attributed the strong performance is “down to the strength and depth of our programming across the board.”

“From 6am to midnight, we have the strongest spine of ratings winners, bar none. And with the AFL and Cricket locked up until 2022, Seven can guarantee those

mass audiences, and certainty for our advertisers, for years to come,” he said.

Seven’s ratings news comes ahead of its Allfronts event on Friday, where it will unveil its programming plans for 2019.

Seven said its leading the 25-54, 16-39 and 18-49 demographics and is “on track to win them all”, and has won 28 of the 33 non-Commonwealth Games ratings weeks.

“It’s always an incredibly important outcome for us when we can deliver for our partners and it is our very clear objective to do that again with audience and business solutions in 2019,” Seven West Media chief revenue officer Kurt Burnette said.

All the results exclude the Commonwealth Games.
