Nine Entertainment Co.’s digital boss Alex Parsons is leaving the media company in a management restructure as Helen McCabe is elevated to a new role.
Alex Parsons, chief digital officer at Nine, has resigned after three years in the role, and will leave the business at the end of this month.
McCabe, a former editor of The Australian Women’s Weekly who joined Nine just over a year ago, gets a new title as digital content director, reporting to Hugh Marks, chief executive of Nine. Currently, McCabe leads the lifestyle vertical.
“Alex has made an enormous contribution to the growth and evolution of the Nine business,” Marks said in a statement.
“He has successfully evolved Nine Digital from the business built around the long-term Microsoft joint venture arrangement to the growing content and platform business it is today. I would like to thank him for his time and energy.”
For the past three years, Parsons oversaw a transition from the Mi9 joint venture with software giant Microsoft to a stand alone business: Nine Digital.
“After an amazing experience working with the most passionate media folks in Australia here at Nine it’s time for a new challenge,” said Parsons. “I’m immensely proud of everything my team has achieved, particularly in getting nine.com.au back to the top of the commercial news rankings, launching the 9Honey women’s network, launching 9Now and developing our data asset which now has more than four million subscribers.”
During his ten years with Nine, Parsons held various senior roles including CEO of RateCity, managing director of Ninemsn. He was also a director of Nine subsidiaries Pedestrian TV and CarAdvice.
